SWP 26th March 2011

26th Mar 2011, Weymouth, Wey Chieftan 4

Managed to dive 3 separate marks on this trip. The weather was much warmer than the previous attempt and the sea was flat calm. The first mark turned out to be a dirt dive after missing the shot, but the second one was a cannon approx 6ft long. There were lots of pieces of wood surrounding the cannon.

Last mark was a donkey boiler, housing a very large lobster! I was diving OC this time round and the bubbles were very annoying.

The video isn’t great as I wasn’t really focussing on taking decent video.

SWP 29th Jan 2011

29th Jan 2011, Weymouth, Wey Chieftan 4
Information about the Shipwreck Project can be found here: SWP
Essentially, it involves diving unknown marks around Chesil beach (for 2011) to try and identify what the marks are, and what wreck they came from. It was a bitterly cold day, freezing and below, with a toasty sea temp of around 6 degrees.

The mark turned out to be a few metal ribs of a wood skinned wreck, later identified to be the Lanoma.

Used GoPro HD Hero with Sartek case. This removes the slight fuzziness seen using the standard case, but vignettes on the widest settings.

The Edam

Sept 2nd 2010, Plymouth, Seeker
The Edam is a Dutch liner that sank in 1895. The wreck was fairly broken up, which was a little disappointing as I had hoped for something a bit more intact. It was a long dive, as the wreck sits in 75m of water – it was a nice dive and worth seeing but I doubt I’ll be rushing back out to it.
For more information on the wreck, check out SWM – Edam.
The video is only a quick edit, may produce something better later.

Unknown Sailing Ship

Aug 5th 2010, Weymouth, Wey Chieftan 4
This was the first time I was able to get the video camera and video light together for a dive, after flooding the light in Mexico.

The Unknown Sailing ship is yet to be identified, sitting at a depth of 56m. The wreck is covered in brass pins, bottles, barrel hoops and lots of life. A very picturesque wreck and great fun to go looking for identifying artifacts. I could quite happily spend days diving this wreck and not get bored.
